Check them out – color is officially back! No grays or beige
Color is back! And if there’s a color theme for the 2027 selections, it’s a feeling of being grounded, balanced and connected. The five Colors of the Year (COTY) selected by major retailers so far share an organic and friendly tone. Here they are:
- Sherwin-Williams, Celery. A soft yellow-green selected from the broader 2027 Colormix Forecast, Rewild.
- Behr, Grounded. Yes, that is the paint name. An organic mossy olive, this is a brand-new hue.
- Glidden, Artifact. A warm, smoky blue meant to “feel like a reset.”
- Valspar, Cottage Door. A reflective mid-tone neutral blue described as “grounding.”
- Dutch Boy, Deeply Rooted. A lovely terracotta orange also described as rich and “grounding.”
These COTY selections offer exciting opportunities for energetic refreshes. I could see Deeply Rooted for a small building exterior, for example, or Celery in a country kitchen. If you’re setting up a library or home office, both Artifact and Cottage Door blues are good options. The darker Grounded would be fantastic as a classy bedroom, dining room, or small bathroom.
