Pink is more versatile than you think

New hues bring warmth and cheer.

Pink has been on the rise with new varieties, from pastel to vibrant. Last year at the Fall Furniture Market in High Point NC, design followers noticed a definite presence of pink, specifically a “raisin” tone in mauve, with a pale hue, and warm brown color scheme.

Overseas, at the January 2024 French design show “Maison et Objet” in Paris, brighter colors took center stage, as part of the “optimistic colors” predicted to rule this year, such as yellow, green and pink.

Here in the U.S., pink has been rising in popularity with combination hues designed to bring good cheer and charm, such as Benjamin Moore’s “vibrant mixture of pink and coral” Teacup Rose

Similarly, the 2024 Pantone Color of Year is Peach Fuzz, a “light, delicate shade that sits between pink and orange.” Peach might evoke the 1980’s, but banish those thoughts of Miami Vice; Peach Fuzz addresses the present time, designed to instill a sense of kindness and community.

What can pink do for you? Here are a few ways to incorporate the new variations for a stylish, uplifting refresh:

  1. Expand your horizons.  Hues of pink aren’t just for walls, but also woodwork and furniture. Check out Rosy Outlook or First Light from Sherwin-Williams (these colors are eligible for the Lilac Dust discount).
  2. Pair pink-based floral tones with botanical palettes for a pleasingly lush and rejuvenating look.
  3. Arrange pink-family mauve furniture around browns (“raisin”), adding a splash of gold for an accent color. Always classy and elegant.
