Balance your home’s Ch’i in Year of the Snake
Chinese Lunar New Year is around the corner as Year of the Snake begins January 29. With a new year comes new opportunities for a refresh. Now is the time to discover how to improve your environment by balancing your home’s invisible energy, known as Ch’i in Chinese culture.
Feng Shui, which dates back over 6,000 years, translates to “wind water,” and is all about balancing Ch’i (energy) and creating harmony. Ch’i is a fundamental principal of Feng Shui design, and links all things, people, plants, – everything, to each other and the universe.
Ch’i flows through your house like water, moving quickly or slowly, depending on its surroundings. Fast moving Ch’i can create a chaotic feel, while Ch’i that moves too slowly can make things feel stagnant.
Adjusting energy flow is one of the goals of a Feng Shui consultant. For example, because Ch’i flows like water, it would move quickly down a staircase. Placing a large object at the base of the stairs will slow down Ch’i by forcing the energy to move around it. The balanced result is a relaxing, positive space that promotes overall happiness and well-being.
